New centre manager joins the team at Ankerside

Exciting changes on the way for Tamworth shopping centre
Ankerside Shopping Centre has welcomed a new centre manager who plans to take the Tamworth retail hotspot to the next level, with an all-new customer experience, a programme of community-focused events and some surprises, too.
Mark Burbridge is the man in charge at Ankerside following seven successful years as centre manager at One Stop Shopping Centre & Retail Park in Birmingham. With more than two decades worth of retail experience, the Redditch resident says he is excited for the fresh challenge.
Joining the team earlier last month, Mark has hit the ground running and is looking forward to continuing the good work carried out by the team, and progressing with noticeable, gradual improvements.
“It has been a very busy first few weeks for me at Ankerside to say the least, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless,” said Mark. “I’ve received a wonderfully warm welcome and it’s a pleasure getting to know my new colleagues, retailers and visitors, and taking note of each other’s ideas about what we envision for the short and long-term future of the centre.
“There have been some exciting changes and developments happening behind the scenes that will continue over the coming months, so our shoppers will soon be benefiting from an improved in-centre experience.”
“A huge factor in my decision to pursue the centre manager role at Ankerside is because of the town centre environment and picturesque surroundings,” said Mark. “We are working on bringing some of the vibrancy from outside onto the mall, starting with the introduction of new seating, planters and a refresh of some of the entrances.”
Mark also explained that with the challenging retail climate, the wheels are in motion for accelerating Ankerside’s potential for attracting even more retailers to its line-up. “Tamworth is a friendly, local town and the vision of offering even more brilliant stores, events and opportunities for bringing everyone together has never been stronger,” he continued.
“The first event at the centre that I’ve being overseeing is ‘Sustainable Summer’ - with knowledge-gaining workshops, crafts and activity sessions running throughout the school holidays - has been enjoyed by many children and families to date.
“It’s a fantastic, fun way of connecting people to great causes and we plan on doing much more of this,” Mark added. “Without giving anything away, we have some brilliantly unexpected things in the pipeline that will further cement Ankerside’s stance as a standout visitor destination.”
He concluded: “Month one has been incredibly positive and the passion and energy from the wider team is infectious and confirms that we’re heading in a very exciting new direction. We are all looking forward to our customers joining us for this exciting journey.”
