Ankerside shoppers raise tens of thousands for charity
Generous shoppers at Ankerside have donated more than £21,000 to local and national charities following a host of awareness and fundraising days at the Tamworth shopping centre.
From tombolas, sporting challenges, coffee mornings, festive activities and more, visitors didn’t hold back in showing their support.
Throughout 2018, Ankerside welcomed 41 charitable organisations and community groups including the likes of Tamworth Samaritans, St Giles Hospice, County Air Ambulance, the Youth Cancer Trust, Wellbeing Matters, Canine Partners, Girlguiding Tamworth, the Royal British Legion, Cancer Research and Macmillan to mention a few.
Many of the charities were able to return to the shopping centre for additional events thanks to the receptive response from shoppers.
Mark Burbridge, centre manager at Ankerside, spoke of his gratitude to the local community for its donations, which totalled 25% more than the previous year. “Giving back to the community is something that we’re very passionate about at Ankerside.
“There are so many independent and established charities that work tirelessly to provide everything from support, care, advice and initiatives for people in the local and wider region,” said Mark. “For them to continue offering essential services, it requires reaching out to the public for assistance with funding.
“Ankerside is a platform which organisations can utilise to raise awareness about their causes and our wonderful shoppers are always so kind-hearted with their contributions,” continued Mark. “Our most grateful thanks to everyone who has helped to achieve this fantastic result, the recipients of the money are always truly appreciative.
“Ankerside’s calendar is filling up nicely with another great selection of fundraising and awareness activities that we look forward to backing with the community.”
