In celebration of World Book Day on Thursday 7 March, children visiting Ankerside’s Stay & Play this week are invited to come along to the activities dressed as their favourite, fictional character.

From 9.30am for two hours on Thursday 28 February at the unit next to Peacocks, little ones and their families can enjoy a fun-packed time at the shopping centre’s Alice in Wonderland themed event, complete with a splendid Mad Hatters tea party. Members from the Tamworth LitFest team will also be there for storytelling sessions.

Mark Burbridge, centre manager at Ankerside Shopping Centre, said: “Reading is one of the most wonderful ways for children to explore their imaginations and is an important pastime that families can nurture and develop together.

“Our World Book Day event at Stay & Play is wonderful opportunity for new and young readers to have lots of fun while learning, and what better occasion for them to bring their storybook heroes to life through dress-up?” said Mark. “We’re excited to see all the costumes and find out which books are the favourites among Tamworth’s children.”
